We are a Branch of the British Columbia Honey Producers Association (BCHPA), organized in 1920 to promote and encourage beekeeping in British Columbia. BCHPA membership includes a one-year subscription to both BeesCene and Hivelights quarterly publications. *The cost of a yearly membership to both the BCHPA and the Kamloops Branch starts at $60.00.
Kamloops beekeepers have many years of experience in all aspects of honey production. This knowledge is regularly shared through meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of every second month at 6:30 pm at Thompson Rivers University and at field days throughout the year. Due to COVID-19, our meetings are now held via ZOOM instead of TRU.
Beekeeping is regulated by the BC Ministry of Agriculture and they provide inspections and resources for beekeepers. Keeping honey bees is now allowed in the City of Kamloops on most properties. Visit the City of Kamloops Animal Control website to learn about beekeeping on properties within the city limits.
